Yo! It's day 3, and I've been incredibly busy... hence the late postage. This one is kind of a play on one I did a while back, called Intruder (the one with the guy stealing the TV)... I liked the pose on the girl, but i didn't add any details or anything. So on this one I wanted to give her a bit more details and all that jazz.

Well alright! It's Day 2 of the 5 Days of Awesome. Feelin good, people. Today's piece is of everyone's favorite hot head, wolverine. This one was done in about 45 minutes, had to warm up my brain before i got down to bidniss.

What up People! I'm back with another round of... 5 DAYS OF AWESOME!!! Just like the first series, I'll be doing some random stuff. Could be some popular characters, could be my own creations... whatevs. Either way, they'll be comin to ya analog or digital, whatever i feel like using at the moment :D

Anyways, the first of the series is Hayato Vs Vader. Had a lot of fun with this one, done with messy pencils and bristol board, 11x14.

So... Felicia needs to eat. Mickey thought he could just coast, hidy-ho-ing his neighbors and what not. Happens to stroll by Felicia, who just lost her gig as a dancer at the night club. She has been surviving off of cup noodles w/shrimp, has an expensive car payment... you get the idea. She's hurtin, and hungry. Mickey couldn't have picked a worse day to leave his hole.

Done on 8.5x11 cardboard stock, pen and ink w/white pencil.

Man I LOVE drawing this character. So well designed. This piece was mad fun to work on. I'm starting to play around more with traditional media, taking a break from that dang computer!!! I still gotta use one at work, but when I want to wind down and relax, this seems to do the trick.

What's goin on people! As you can see, I'm still alive. And I'm still drawing. It's been a hectic few months, had a ton of work and hardly anytime to do anything else. But everything is all good.

I'm pleased to announce that I will be doing a comic book... one that I've had in my frickin noggin for some time now. Finally have a really solid story, and am ready to share it with the people of the world.

New Spidey Vs Hulk Piece WIP

So far, it's been a LOOOONG week, with work and all. Got alot of projects on the burner, so sleep hasn't been hanging out with me as much as I would like. But y'know what? It's life I signed up for.

Here's a work in Progress piece of Spidey and Hulk, working in Sketchbook Pro.

The story: Peter's on his way home from school. He just had a pretty sweet day... got an A on his science test, talked to MJ, even passed a few notes in class.

Just a few weeks ago, Peter borrowed a bit of lunch money from Bruce Banner.

Bruce isn't too happy about this.

This one took about 35-45 minutes, done with red pencil and Fabercastell Pen. I struggled big time with it, I just didn't think too much about the lines that I threw done... just warming up the hands. That's the point of these pieces, to get the bad stuff OUT.

Morning Stretches

What's happenin people... here's one I did this morning to warm up the hands and brain. Done in my moleskine sketchbook, with Fabercastell markers and Red Pencil... Touch-ups and halftones in photoshop.

Here, Spidey owes everyone money. He's trying his best to escape... looks like Dead pool MIGHT have dibbs.

Getting the day started

Part of what gets me going for the day is the warmup sketches. Why are they important? For a couple of reasons:

1. Get all the BAD stuff out
I read somewhere that you have 10,000 BAD drawings in you... after that, you start churning out some good ones. This is kind what it's like for me in the morning, or just before I get to the heavy work. I have to let my brain filter out the bad stuf, because I often go for a pose or a face or something, and it looks like I drew it in the 3rd grade. Sometimes the drawing is on 4th grade level. But anyway, I do this for about 45 minutes or so. Sometimes, I stretch it to 90 minutes... then I'm ready for anything!

2. Sets the tone for the day
When you warm up, you kind of feel good about what you're doing. At least, that's how I feel. If I go straight to something, I get frustrated and I get bored. After I've stuck with the warm up, loosening up my hands and clearing the fog from my brain, the rest of the day is a little easier. 9 times out of ten, the day won't be filled with self loathing, and a pile of crumpled paper (this works for digital art too, by the way).

Anyway, hope that helps! It helps me.

Alright! Last day of the 5 DAYS OF AWESOME Sketch Challenge. Technically, this is late, but I had a family day yesterday. You know how it is! Anyways, thanks for the comments and faves... I really appreciate you guys sticking around and watching. Warms my heart

This piece is about a boy who happens to stumble upon an alien race. They threaten to blow up the planet... unless he coughs up chocolate everyday to keep them cool. Don't know what sparked that... but it was fun to draw. I'm actually going to do a mini-web comic based on this, but it'll be more about the boy and that little alien-dude.

Hey people! This post is going up a little late, sorry for that. The reason being is we had this big warehouse sale at my job, and it was an all day thing. Finally got the time to sketch something out!

This one is a little random. I wanted to draw a girl, and it was kind of not coming out like I wanted. So i decided to make it a little more fun, by adding a weird headband and a creature rocking a hat, for no reason at all. It was just fun to draw.

Here's a pick of Batman, looking extremely non-threatening. Harley and Mista J have a good laugh, cuz he's trying to look all touh and his belt happens to be just a tad too big for him.

This one was really quick, but really fun to draw. I think i'll flesh this one out a bit more... make it look really dope!

So this lady's had a bad day. All she wanted was to go up the street to the liquor store, and grab an energy drink, and some gum. Out of NOWHERE, these little bastards attack her... clawed at her faced, her arms... even a flying dragon kick to the back of the leg!! She doesn't leave the house without her gun though, and one poor monster gets it in the gut. But will she make it out of this alive? We shall see...

Sketch Bunny warm up

This bunny is the Mascot for SKETCH NITES over at the place where I work. He's always got on his headphones, and some markers and pencils and paintbrushes... ready to NOT pay attention to the people around him and stay in the zone. And if people start bugging him, he's been known to karatisize them, then draw a big FAIL right on their forehead. I will post the final of this soon... enjoy it!!

Morning Warmup and a Few Tips

Mornin' everybody. Just thought I'd show you the warmups I do in the morning. VERY rough sketches, but they help to work out those kinks. I believe strongly that an artist needs to "warm up" before he or she gets down to business. Warm ups help to loosen up the hands and sharpen the mind... and keep it sharp! You gotsta practice everyday, like an athlete who stretches and takes practice shots before a game. I usually spend about an 1 hour - 1 1/2 hours on random, not pleasing to the eye sketches before I get serious.

Here are some helpful tips when warming up and Drawing:

1. GET COMFY. Trust me on this. You won't want to draw if you're not comfortable. Find a happy spot and position, and get to it!

2. BE LOOSE. Don't worry too much about the style when you're warming up. Just concentrate on the form. You're just trying to exercise your hands and mind.

3. TAKE YOUR TIME. This applies to the post-warmup.... when you're actually working on a piece. Don't expect it to look like a full on Marvel comic in the first few hours, or even days. Take time on your work, keep a good pace. Most of my drawings take about 10 hours to draw, another 5 or so to ink, then another million to color. So don't feel bad if your piece doesn't turn out right in the first 5 minutes. Which brings me to my next point...

4. HAVE FUN!!! That really is a litle harder some days than others, but it's a key factor in producing good stuff. I do have my bad days, but most of the time it's because I try to get right to a finish line when I haven't even started. Out on some music, a movie, watch some youtube vids... whatever! Just have fun doing what you're doing. Otherwise, it's just plain ol' work.

NEW STUFF!!!

It's been about 2 1/2 years... but I got some new stuff to put up!!! I haven't had the time to put anything up, and for that I apologize. I've been working, planning my wedding to the love of my life, paying bills... you know, being an adult. All the work is worth it, though. You get to see yourself grow, become more responsible, more confident... all the stuff that you thought IMPOSSIBLE while in high school and a few years beyond.

Anyways, I've returned with some new stuff. The pieces shown are all still works in progress, and will be finished in the coming weeks. I have TONS of new stuff to show you guys, but I gotta wait till I have the nod of approval.

Hope you guys enjoy... Be on the lookout for new stuff!!!

It's been a LOOOOOONNNNGGG time. I know. But I have an excuse!! I've been working. Alot. Ok, so maybe that's really not an excuse. It does'nt take 4 months to post a blog. So, I am making a promise. SKETCH NITE!!!

What's happenin' people! This one is for the new "Sketch Nite" or... I might call it something else. Basically it's a get-together of local artists who love to do their thing. I don't really know how to put it together, but I just want a mad-cool environment for artists to be in while they do what they do best. There's no set skill level or anything, just... art. I'm gonna have some movies, some music, refreshments... I also want people to learn a little somethin' from it and be encouraged to just keep on creating. I'm open to any suggestions, so if you got 'em, hit me up!

What up people. Trying to do a daily morning sketch to get the creative juices flowing. I've found that it's important to warm up instead of getting right to it, kind of like an athlete warms up before a game or somethin. Anyways, this morning's sketch is of Nancy Nitro ™.
